What JobFiend AI collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get it or delete it. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect
Only what the app needs to find jobs for you and apply to them:
- Your account: name, email address, and a scrambled (hashed) password - or, if you sign in with Google, your Google account's email and name.
- Your profile and CV: work history, education, skills, the answers you give to common application questions, your salary expectations, and any CV or photo you upload.
- Your job search: the postings you save, follow or paste, the documents written for them, the applications sent, and their status.
- Your mailbox, if you connect one: the address and an app password, stored encrypted. We read it only to find replies from employers and the verification codes their forms send. We never send, delete or move your email.
- Application forms, if you use the browser extension: when you choose a posting, the extension sends us the address of the employer's form and the page's HTML, so we can work out which of your answers belongs in which box. Only pages the extension opened for a posting you picked - never pages you browse yourself.
- Basic technical data: your IP address, used to limit abuse (stored only as a one-way hash), and error reports (what went wrong and on which page, including errors in your browser).
- Visitor counts: how many people visit each page a day and which site sent them. No cookie is used and no address is stored; a visit is counted with a code that changes every day and is deleted after two days, so one visitor can't be followed from day to day.
How we use it
To run the service you signed up for: matching openings to your profile, writing tailored CVs and cover letters, filling in application forms, tracking replies, and emailing you codes and account notices.
We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we don't use your data to train AI models.
Who else sees it
Some of the work is done by other companies, each seeing only what its part needs:
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Employers you apply to | When an application is sent, the employer and their hiring system receive what that form asks for: your CV, cover letter and answers. |
| OpenAI | Writes and scores documents, and works out what an application form's questions are asking. Receives the relevant parts of your profile and the job posting, and a form's question labels - not the whole page, and not your answers to it. Under its API terms, it doesn't use this to train its models. |
| Only if you choose Google sign-in. | |
| Resend | Delivers the emails we send you. |
| Paystack | Handles payment for paid plans. Card details go to Paystack and never reach our servers. |
| Our hosting provider | Stores the database and files on servers we rent, in Germany. |
| Backblaze | Holds the nightly backup - the database and your uploaded files - in the EU, so a lost server cannot lose your data. |
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Results from the free tools are kept for 30 days. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from the live database straight away. Backups are the one place a copy lingers: they are kept 14 days on the server and 30 days off it, after which they are deleted for good - so anything you delete is gone from every copy we hold within 30 days.
Your rights
You can download everything we hold about you, and delete your account and all of it, from Profile, under Your data. You can correct your details there at any time.
For anything else - a question, a correction you can't make yourself, or an objection to how we use your data - write to support@jobfiend.com. If you're in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the last change.
