Do cover letters still matter?

Often, yes. Many hiring managers skip them, but the ones who read them read them closely, and a specific letter is one of the few places you can explain a career change, a gap, or why this company in particular. A generic one does the opposite: it tells the reader you sent the same thing to everyone.

What makes a cover letter specific

Good letters answer three questions in under 300 words:

  • Why this role at this company, in a sentence that couldn't be sent anywhere else.
  • Which two or three things you've done that match what the posting actually asks for.
  • What you'd like to happen next.

Mistakes that get a cover letter skipped

Most weak letters fail in the same few ways:

  • Retelling the resume line by line. The reader has it already; the letter should explain what the resume can't.
  • Talking about what you want from the job instead of what you'd bring to it.
  • The wrong company name, or a line clearly written for a different posting. Check before you send.
  • Opening with a sentence that could go to any employer: "I'm excited to apply for this opportunity."
  • Going past one page. If it doesn't fit, cut the weakest paragraph rather than shrinking the font.

How this generator writes

Paste the full job description and your background: your resume works fine. The letter connects the two using only facts you gave it. It won't open with "I am writing to express my interest", won't pad with "passionate" and "dynamic", and won't invent achievements. Pick a tone, then read it out loud and change anything that doesn't sound like you.

Questions

Is the cover letter generator free?

Free to try with an account: see how your letter opens. The whole letter, and PDF and Word downloads, come with a pass or Pro.

How long should a cover letter be?

Under a page, and usually 200–300 words. Three or four short paragraphs are plenty.

Will recruiters know it was written by AI?

They notice generic letters, whoever wrote them. This generator avoids the usual AI phrases and ties every paragraph to the posting and your real experience, but read it through and make it sound like you before you send it.

Who should I address the cover letter to?

The hiring manager by name if the posting gives one. Otherwise "Dear Hiring Team" is fine; "To whom it may concern" reads as dated.

Do you store my resume or the job description?

No. They are sent to the AI model to write the letter and not stored. The letter itself is kept for 30 days so you can open it after signing in or upgrading, then deleted.
